PRIVATE TUTORING · IRVINE & NEWPORT BEACH

Language tutoring.
Use what they know.

One-on-one language support that helps your student connect grammar, vocabulary and communication to what they are learning in class.

Ask about Spanish coursework from introductory levels through AP, or tell us the other language and level your student is taking. We confirm a tutor’s subject experience and availability before recommending a match.

Primarily in your home. Public locations and online via Zoom are also available, depending on the tutor match.

Personally recommended by Adam. Starting at $95/hour.

WHERE WE CAN HELP

From knowing a rule
to using it naturally.

A student may do well on a vocabulary list but hesitate in conversation or lose track of verb forms while writing. Lessons can make those connections explicit and give them time to practice.

Strengthen the foundations.

Revisit vocabulary, sentence structure and grammar that keep getting in the way. Connect earlier topics to the unit the student is working on now.

Get comfortable participating.

Practice short exchanges, listening and speaking at an appropriate pace. Specific feedback helps the student know what to try next.

Prepare for the class assessment.

Use the teacher’s expectations to focus on reading, writing, oral responses or grammar tasks instead of reviewing everything equally.

COURSES & SKILLS

The right language.
The right course level.

Course names and numbering vary by school. Tell us the language, level, current textbook or unit and whether speaking, writing or assessments are the main concern.

Spanish 1 & introductory Spanish

Develop vocabulary, pronunciation, common verb forms and basic sentence structure. Connect new language to classroom activities and short exchanges.

Discuss spanish 1 & introductory spanish

Spanish 2 & Spanish 3

Build on earlier grammar, expand vocabulary and practice more complex reading and writing. Work through recurring mistakes using the student’s class material.

Discuss spanish 2 & spanish 3

Spanish 4 & honors Spanish

Practice sustained communication, reading comprehension and more developed written responses. Align the focus with the actual course and assessment expectations.

Discuss spanish 4 & honors spanish

AP Spanish Language and Culture

Discuss a match for reading, listening, speaking and writing tasks, alongside current coursework. We confirm the tutor’s experience with this AP course.

Discuss ap spanish language and culture

AP Spanish Literature and Culture

Ask about support with literary reading, interpretation and writing in Spanish. This is a distinct course, and we check relevant expertise before confirming a tutor.

Discuss ap spanish literature and culture

French & other language requests

Share the exact language and course level. Availability is confirmed individually; we do not assume that speaking a language alone is enough to teach the class.

PERSONAL OVERSIGHT

The subject matters.
So does the person teaching it.

For a language course, I look for more than fluency. I check whether the tutor can explain the grammar clearly, work with the student’s level and create a comfortable space to practice speaking and writing.

I personally hire and get to know our tutors. I explain why I recommend the match, check how the first lesson went and remain available to help refine the plan. You have someone to call who knows your student and the tutor.

DURING A LESSON

Hear it. Say it.
Read it. Write it.

The balance depends on the class and your student’s needs. Practice should connect grammar knowledge to communicating and understanding the language.

  1. 01 / REVIEW

    Start with the current unit.

Look at recent work or ask for a short response. Identify whether the difficulty is vocabulary, a rule, comprehension or applying several skills at once.

  2. 02 / PRACTICE

    Use the language in context.

Model an example, practice together and introduce a variation. Explain corrections so the student knows why the answer changes.

  3. 03 / REINFORCE

    Build a repeatable routine.

Choose manageable practice between lessons, such as retrieving vocabulary, reading a short passage or using a target structure in new sentences.

Have the textbook or class portal, current vocabulary, grammar notes, recent work and the assessment instructions ready. Include any speaking or listening tasks you want to discuss.

WHAT PROGRESS CAN LOOK LIKE

More understanding.
More independence.

We pay attention to how your student approaches the work, not just whether an assignment is finished. Quiz and test results, teacher feedback and the student’s own explanations can help guide the next steps.

Share what you notice at home with Adam. Progress varies by student; we revisit the priorities and the support as needs change.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your first lesson.
And the support that follows.

Get to know the student and the work.

The first lesson looks at your student’s course materials and current use of the language. The tutor can identify a starting point through conversation, reading or writing and begin practicing the areas that need attention. You can meet the tutor, ask questions and see how they work with your child.

Build a rhythm. Adjust as needed.

Weekly tutoring works best alongside manageable practice between lessons. We can adjust the emphasis and schedule as new units, oral assessments or AP preparation approach.

Adam helps you refine the plan.

Adam checks in after the first lesson and remains your primary point of contact. Share what is working and where your child still feels stuck. He can help you and the tutor revisit the match, study priorities or lesson schedule.

Newport Beach families

For Newport-Mesa Unified and private-school students in Newport Beach, lessons can follow the language class and its assessment format. We confirm the exact subject, location and suitable tutor before booking.

Most families meet their tutor at home. Set aside a quiet workspace and have the current coursework ready. A parent should be home for a minor’s lesson.

Prefer a library, another suitable public location or Zoom? Tell us when you inquire. We confirm the setting with your tutor. We are an independent tutoring service, not affiliated with a school or school district.

Still have questions?Call or text Adam and our team.(949) 510-9361Send a text
Which languages can you help with?
Spanish is a core request we support, including introductory through advanced coursework. Ask about French or another language with the exact course level; we confirm relevant tutor expertise and current availability before offering a match.
How much does language tutoring cost?
Standard coursework starts at $95/hour, honors at $100/hour and AP at $105/hour. Your tutor’s exact rate, lesson length and format are confirmed before booking.
Can you help with speaking as well as grammar?
Yes, depending on the course and tutor match. Lessons can include guided conversation, listening, reading, writing and explicit grammar practice. Tell us which parts of class feel most difficult.
Does the tutor need to use the same textbook?
We can work from your student’s actual assignments, vocabulary lists, notes and textbook. Share those materials so practice supports the teacher’s sequence and expectations.
Can you help a student who is behind on earlier grammar?
We can identify recurring gaps and revisit them alongside current work. The amount of support depends on the gaps and the pace of the class; we discuss a realistic routine with your family.
Do you offer AP Spanish support?
Ask us about the exact course: AP Spanish Language and Culture or AP Spanish Literature and Culture. Their tasks differ, so we confirm the tutor’s relevant background before recommending a match.
Will a tutor complete or translate assignments for my child?
The goal is to teach the student to understand and produce their own work. Tutors can explain a rule, give feedback and guide practice, while the student remains responsible for assignments and school rules.
Can tutoring be in-home or online?
We prioritize in-home requests in Irvine and Newport Beach when a suitable tutor is available. Zoom or a public location can also be discussed. Available languages, levels and times are confirmed individually.
