PRIVATE MATH TUTORING · IRVINE & NEWPORT BEACH

Math tutoring.
That makes sense.

One-on-one K–12 math tutoring that helps your child understand the material, prepare for tests and feel more confident in class.

From fractions and algebra to Integrated Math and AP Calculus, we match your child with a tutor who knows the course and can explain it clearly.

Your tutor comes to your home in Irvine or Newport Beach.

Personally recommended by Adam. Starting at $95/hour.

START WITH WHAT YOUR CHILD NEEDS

Meet them where they are.
Help them move forward.

Sometimes a difficult chapter is the issue. Sometimes an earlier skill is missing. We work with the student in front of us, using their coursework and goals to guide the lesson.

Close earlier gaps.

If fractions, negative numbers or algebra basics keep getting in the way, we revisit those skills while helping your child keep up with current assignments.

Prepare beyond the homework.

When homework looks fine but tests don’t, lessons can focus on recognizing problem types, choosing an approach and practicing without a worked example.

Build confidence and momentum.

A patient, relatable tutor gives students room to ask questions, work through mistakes and develop a more manageable study routine. Strong students can deepen their understanding, too.

Elica hooti

Lacey is an amazing tutor, she makes sure there’s understanding but what’s most important is she emphasizes the conceptual aspect which really makes a difference.

Tun Min Soe

Math isn't our 12-year-old’s favorite subject, especially while learning a grade ahead, but Ms. Parsa makes the challenge feel approachable and even fun. While she is clearly a highly qualified educator, it is her patience and temperament that truly set her apart. She is incredibly professional, easy-going, and flexible with scheduling. We highly recommend her.

Scarlett Dickerson

My tutor Emily was so great and helped me get my math grade up to an A.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A LESSON

Understand it.
Practice it. Build on it.

The lesson starts with your child’s schoolwork. The tutor balances what’s due now with the skills that will help on the next quiz, test or assignment.

  1. 01 / REVIEW

    See how they’re thinking.

Look at recent assignments, quizzes and teacher feedback. Ask your child to talk through a problem so the tutor can identify the point of confusion.

  2. 02 / EXPLAIN & PRACTICE

    Work toward independence.

Break the concept into manageable steps, model an approach and practice together. Then give your child a related problem to try with less help.

  3. 03 / PREPARE

    Know what to do next.

Review mistakes, identify what needs more practice and plan for upcoming deadlines. Build habits such as showing work, checking answers and studying before test day.

For the first lesson: have current assignments, a recent quiz or test, the course outline and the calculator used in class ready. Bring whatever you have—we can start the conversation from there.

HOW YOU CAN TELL IT’S HELPING

Look for progress
you can recognize.

Grades are one part of the picture. We also look at whether your child understands the work, needs fewer prompts and feels more comfortable approaching the course.

Adam checks how the first lesson went. As lessons continue, discuss progress and priorities with your tutor, and contact our team whenever you need help.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your first lesson.
And the support that follows.

Start with their math course.

The first lesson helps the tutor understand your child’s current unit, earlier skill gaps and teacher’s expectations. Together, they begin shaping a practical study plan around coursework and upcoming quizzes or tests. You can meet the tutor, ask questions and see how they explain the material to your child.

Build a rhythm. Adjust as needed.

We generally recommend weekly math support during the school year. Lesson length and frequency depend on the course, your child’s understanding and their goals. We can add time when more practice is needed or reduce it as your child becomes more independent.

Adam helps you refine the plan.

Adam checks in after the first lesson and remains your primary point of contact. Share what is working and where your child still feels stuck. He can help you and the tutor revisit the match, study priorities or lesson schedule.

A FEW ANSWERS BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Questions about
math tutoring.

Still have questions?Call or text Adam and our team.(949) 510-9361Send a text
Can you help with my child’s specific math course?
We support K–12 math, including elementary and middle school math, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Integrated and Enhanced Math, precalculus, AP Calculus AB/BC and AP Statistics. Share the exact title, current unit and school; we confirm the right expertise before recommending a tutor.
How much does math tutoring cost?
Starting hourly rates are $95 for elementary, middle and standard high school coursework, $100 for honors and $105 for AP. SAT and ACT preparation starts at $145/hour. A 90-minute lesson at $95/hour starts at $142.50. We confirm your tutor’s exact rate and lesson length before you book.
How do you choose the right math tutor?
Adam personally hires the tutors and considers their relevant course experience, teaching approach, your child’s needs, location and schedule. He explains the recommendation and checks how the first lesson went. Our tutors are background checked through Checkr.
Can you help if my child is several topics behind?
Yes. Tell us what has been difficult and share any recent work. Lessons can revisit earlier skills while addressing the current course. We discuss priorities and a realistic schedule; the time needed depends on the gaps, course demands and practice between sessions.
Is tutoring more than help finishing homework?
Yes. Homework helps reveal where your child gets stuck, but lessons also focus on explaining concepts, choosing methods, practicing independently and preparing for quizzes and tests. The goal is for your child to do more of the thinking and solving themselves.
How long and how often should lessons be?
Lessons have a 60-minute minimum; 90 minutes is our most popular choice, and two-hour sessions are available. A regular weekly appointment can help establish a routine. Larger gaps or demanding courses may call for more frequent support. We discuss a schedule that fits your child and budget.
Can lessons follow the teacher’s methods and assignments?
Yes. Share the teacher’s examples, assignment instructions, feedback and upcoming topics. The tutor uses these to understand classroom expectations and explain the material in a way your child can connect to their schoolwork.
What if my child feels frustrated or doesn’t like math?
Tell Adam what has and has not worked before. We consider personality and teaching style alongside subject knowledge. A patient, encouraging tutor can make it easier to ask questions, experience small successes and build a more positive relationship with the course.
Can you help a strong student get ahead or prepare for AP?
Yes. Support can focus on deepening understanding, strengthening prerequisites and preparing for more demanding work. Share the current course and goals so we can discuss an appropriate plan. School placement and advancement decisions remain with the school.
Do you offer in-home math tutoring?
Yes. In-home tutoring is our primary service: your tutor comes to your family’s home in Irvine or Newport Beach. If you prefer another setting, ask about a suitable local library or online lessons via Zoom. We confirm the location, tutor availability and schedule before arranging the first appointment.
How do scheduling, billing and packages work?
Our office arranges the first lesson. Afterward, schedule directly with your tutor; a standing weekly time is helpful when available. For hourly lessons, the card on file is charged after the tutor records the completed session. Packages are optional, and we explain their price and terms before purchase.
What if the tutor isn’t the right fit?
Contact Adam or Brandy so we can understand what needs to change and discuss another match. The TutorNerds satisfaction guarantee applies to the first hour of the first session with a new tutor; it is not a promise of a particular grade or score. Read the guarantee details.
