PRIVATE TUTORING · IRVINE & NEWPORT BEACH

Science tutoring.
Make the connections.

One-on-one science tutoring that helps your child understand the ideas, work through the calculations and explain their reasoning with confidence.

From elementary science to biology, chemistry and physics, lessons connect the classroom material to the questions your student is expected to answer.

Primarily in your home. Public locations and online via Zoom are also available, depending on the tutor match.

Personally recommended by Adam. Starting at $95/hour.

WHERE WE CAN HELP

When knowing the words
isn’t quite enough.

A student may recognize a definition yet struggle to interpret a graph or choose an equation. We look at the thinking behind the work, then practice the skills the course actually requires.

Understand the concept.

Connect vocabulary to diagrams, examples and cause-and-effect relationships, so studying becomes more than trying to remember a page of notes.

Handle the quantitative work.

Practice setting up a problem, using units and choosing a useful equation. When an algebra gap is making science harder, we address it directly.

Prepare for unfamiliar questions.

Work through variations, interpret data and explain conclusions. Recent quizzes and teacher feedback help identify what needs more attention.

COURSES & SKILLS

From classroom curiosity
to honors and AP.

Share the full course title and current unit. We confirm the tutor’s experience with that subject and level before recommending a match.

Elementary science

Build understanding of observations, evidence, life science, physical science and Earth science through age-appropriate explanations connected to classwork.

Discuss elementary science

Biology & honors biology

Work on cells, genetics, evolution, ecology and the relationships between biological systems. Practice reading diagrams and supporting explanations with evidence.

Discuss biology & honors biology

Chemistry & honors chemistry

Make sense of atomic structure, bonding, reactions, the mole and quantitative problem solving. Use dimensional analysis and organized work to check each step.

Discuss chemistry & honors chemistry

Physics

Connect motion, forces, energy and other course topics to diagrams and mathematical models. The tutor helps distinguish which principles apply to a given problem.

PERSONAL OVERSIGHT

The subject matters.
So does the person teaching it.

For science, I look at the exact discipline, the level of mathematics involved and how your child learns best. I want a tutor who can explain why an approach works and help your student apply it without simply following an example.

I personally hire and get to know our tutors. I explain why I recommend the match, check how the first lesson went and remain available to help refine the plan. You have someone to call who knows your student and the tutor.

DURING A LESSON

Understand the science.
Then use it.

The tutor uses current schoolwork to identify whether the sticking point is a concept, the math, the wording of a question or explaining an answer.

  1. 01 / REVIEW

    Find the point of confusion.

Review a recent question, diagram, lab prompt or test. Ask your child to explain what they understand before deciding what to revisit.

  2. 02 / EXPLAIN & PRACTICE

    Connect models and methods.

Explain the idea with a useful representation, work through a question together and introduce a variation for the student to attempt.

  3. 03 / PREPARE

    Make the next review specific.

Identify concepts to retrieve from memory, problem types to practice and the teacher’s expectations for written responses.

Bring the current assignment, a recent quiz or test, the lab rubric if relevant and the calculator used in class. School portal access can help locate the materials.

WHAT PROGRESS CAN LOOK LIKE

More understanding.
More independence.

We pay attention to how your student approaches the work, not just whether an assignment is finished. Quiz and test results, teacher feedback and the student’s own explanations can help guide the next steps.

Share what you notice at home with Adam. Progress varies by student; we revisit the priorities and the support as needs change.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your first lesson.
And the support that follows.

Get to know the student and the work.

The first science lesson identifies the current unit, prerequisite skills and the teacher’s expectations. Your student works with the tutor straight away, and you can see how the explanations connect before planning ongoing support. You can meet the tutor, ask questions and see how they work with your child.

Build a rhythm. Adjust as needed.

Weekly lessons can keep concepts and practice moving alongside the course. A demanding AP class or larger gaps may need more time; duration and frequency can be adjusted with your family.

Adam helps you refine the plan.

Adam checks in after the first lesson and remains your primary point of contact. Share what is working and where your child still feels stuck. He can help you and the tutor revisit the match, study priorities or lesson schedule.

IRVINE & NEWPORT BEACH

Support that fits
your school and your home.

Science courses can use different sequences, lab expectations and levels of mathematics. We work from your student’s assignments and teacher feedback instead of assuming every school covers a topic the same way.

Irvine families

For Irvine Unified and private-school students, share the science course, current unit and any recent assessment. An honors chemistry problem set may call for a different match and lesson plan than middle school integrated science.

Newport Beach families

For Newport-Mesa Unified and private-school students in Newport Beach, we build around the class syllabus, lab questions and upcoming assessments. Include the exact AP Physics course when relevant.

Most families meet their tutor at home. Set aside a quiet workspace and have the current coursework ready. A parent should be home for a minor’s lesson.

Prefer a library, another suitable public location or Zoom? Tell us when you inquire. We confirm the setting with your tutor. We are an independent tutoring service, not affiliated with a school or school district.

A FEW ANSWERS BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Questions parents
ask us.

Still have questions?Call or text Adam and our team.(949) 510-9361Send a text
Can you help with my child’s particular science course?
We support elementary and middle school science, biology, chemistry, physics and selected honors and AP courses. Tell us the exact class, school and current unit so Adam can confirm a suitable tutor.
How much does science tutoring cost?
Starting rates are $95/hour for standard K–12 coursework, $100/hour for honors and $105/hour for AP. A 90-minute standard lesson starts at $142.50. Your tutor’s exact rate is confirmed before booking.
Can tutoring help when the homework is fine but tests are difficult?
Yes. We can compare homework, quizzes and teacher feedback, then practice choosing an approach without a worked example. The focus may include unfamiliar wording, explaining concepts, interpreting data or applying the same idea in a new setting.
Do you help with lab reports?
We can help your student understand the prompt, organize their observations, interpret results and explain conclusions. Students must use their own data and write their own work in accordance with school rules.
Can you help with both the science and the math behind it?
Tell us which calculations are difficult. We consider the necessary algebra, graphing or calculus when matching the tutor. If your student needs broader math support too, we can discuss a combined plan.
Do you support AP exams as well as the class?
Yes, with a tutor matched to that AP subject. Lessons can combine current coursework with practice interpreting exam questions and explaining answers. We agree on priorities based on the class, available time and your student’s needs.
How often should we schedule?
Lessons have a 60-minute minimum. Ninety minutes is the most popular choice, and two hours is available. Weekly support can provide continuity; frequency depends on the course, skill gaps and practice between lessons.
Can the tutor come to our home?
In-home lessons are our main format in Irvine and Newport Beach. We can also discuss a suitable public location or Zoom. We confirm the address, schedule and tutor availability before booking.
