PRIVATE TUTORING · IRVINE & NEWPORT BEACH

SAT preparation.
Make practice count.

One-on-one SAT tutoring built around your student’s Reading and Writing skills, math knowledge and experience with the digital test.

We use practice results to choose what needs teaching and what needs rehearsal. Your tutor helps your student understand mistakes, work more deliberately and prepare for one clear SAT goal.

Primarily in your home. Public locations and online via Zoom are also available, depending on the tutor match.

Personally recommended by Adam. Starting at $145/hour.

WHERE WE CAN HELP

Know the material.
Use it on the SAT.

Strong classroom performance does not automatically make every SAT question feel familiar. We connect the underlying skills to the decisions the student needs to make during the test.

Explain a missed answer.

Distinguish a reading mistake, a missing grammar rule or a math gap from a pacing problem. The review should explain what to do differently next time.

Get comfortable with digital practice.

Use official practice to become familiar with the digital experience and the modular format. A tutor can help the student rehearse a deliberate approach.

Prepare around school.

Agree on manageable work between lessons and a target date. SAT preparation should have a clear place in the week alongside classes and activities.

COURSES & SKILLS

The SAT skills
we can work on.

The SAT has Reading and Writing and Math sections, each organized into two modules. Lessons target the skills your student needs within those sections; not every lesson needs to cover everything.

Reading comprehension & evidence

Practice identifying the task, understanding a short text and choosing an answer supported by the information given. Review the reasoning behind each choice.

Discuss reading comprehension & evidence

Grammar, expression & transitions

Work on sentence structure, punctuation, transitions and clear expression. Explain the rule or purpose behind an edit, then apply it to a new example.

Discuss grammar, expression & transitions

Algebra & advanced math

Revisit equations, functions and other algebraic skills that need attention. Practice interpreting a question, selecting a method and checking whether the result makes sense.

Discuss algebra & advanced math

Data, geometry & trigonometry

Review the quantitative topics revealed by the student’s practice results. Connect diagrams, data and formulas to the actual question being asked.

Discuss data, geometry & trigonometry

Digital SAT practice & pacing

Use official digital practice to rehearse the testing experience. Work on time-consuming decisions, question navigation and a thoughtful approach to unfamiliar items.

Discuss digital sat practice & pacing

Score review & preparation planning

Use practice reports and recurring errors to set priorities. Plan when targeted sets or a full practice test will be most useful, then refine the next lessons.

Discuss score review & preparation planning

Share the exact course, grade and current material. We confirm the appropriate subject expertise, lesson format and availability before recommending a tutor.

PERSONAL OVERSIGHT

The subject matters.
So does the person teaching it.

For the SAT, I consider the student’s section results, confidence with the material and approach to timed work. I recommend a tutor who can explain the reasoning clearly and make the next practice priorities specific.

I personally hire and get to know our tutors. I explain why I recommend the match, check how the first lesson went and remain available to help refine the plan. You have someone to call who knows your student and the tutor.

DURING A LESSON

Understand the miss.
Strengthen the skill.

A SAT lesson combines targeted teaching, practice and review. The student should leave understanding a recurring mistake and knowing what to practice before the next meeting.

  1. 01 / REVIEW

Find the reason behind a miss.

Examine a score report or practice set. Distinguish content gaps from interpretation, timing or avoidable execution errors.

  2. 02 / PRACTICE

    Teach, then apply.

Review the underlying skill and practice questions that use it in different ways. Ask the student to explain the choice of method or answer.

  3. 03 / PLAN

    Set the next practice priorities.

Agree on manageable work between lessons and when another timed set or full practice test would provide useful information.

Bring a recent SAT score report or official practice results, the intended test date and the device used for digital practice. You can inquire before completing a practice test; we will explain a useful starting point.

WHAT PROGRESS CAN LOOK LIKE

More understanding.
More independence.

We pay attention to how your student approaches the work, not just whether an assignment is finished. Quiz and test results, teacher feedback and the student’s own explanations can help guide the next steps.

Share what you notice at home with Adam. Progress varies by student; we revisit the priorities and the support as needs change.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your first lesson.
And the support that follows.

Get to know the student and the work.

The first SAT meeting reviews the student’s goals and any available section results. The tutor begins teaching or reviewing a useful task, then sets initial priorities for Reading and Writing, Math or both sections. You can meet the tutor, ask questions and see how they work with your child.

Build a rhythm. Adjust as needed.

Many families choose a standing weekly session; a closer test date or larger gaps may need more frequent work. Lessons and independent practice should fit the student’s schedule, and the plan can be adjusted as results develop.

Adam helps you refine the plan.

Adam checks in after the first lesson and remains your primary point of contact. Share what is working and where your child still feels stuck. He can help you and the tutor revisit the match, study priorities or lesson schedule.

Most families meet their tutor at home. Set aside a quiet workspace and have the current coursework ready. A parent should be home for a minor’s lesson.

Prefer a library, another suitable public location or Zoom? Tell us when you inquire. We confirm the setting with your tutor. We are an independent tutoring service, not affiliated with a school or school district.

A FEW ANSWERS BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Still have questions?Call or text Adam and our team.(949) 510-9361Send a text
Can you focus on just SAT Math or Reading and Writing?
Yes. A student may need one section or a plan that covers both SAT sections. Share the score report and goals so we can prioritize the right skills and recommend an appropriate tutor.
How much does SAT tutoring cost?
SAT preparation starts at $145/hour. At that starting rate, a 90-minute lesson is $217.50 and two hours is $290. We confirm your tutor’s exact rate and lesson length before booking.
Should we prepare for the SAT and ACT at the same time?
We generally recommend comparing the options first, then choosing one exam to focus on. That keeps the practice, pacing and preparation schedule consistent. If your student later changes exams, we can revisit the plan and tutor match.
How does the digital SAT affect preparation?
The SAT uses Reading and Writing and Math sections with a modular, adaptive structure. We combine teaching with official digital practice so your student becomes familiar with the format while improving the skills behind the questions.
How early should we begin?
The right lead time depends on the starting point, goals and available practice time. Tell us the intended date even if it is close; we will discuss a realistic focus and whether there is enough time for teaching, practice and review.
Will my student have work between lessons?
Usually, yes. Focused assignments and occasional timed practice help the tutor see what the student can do independently. We agree on an amount that fits school and activities, then review the work together.
Do you guarantee a score increase?
No. We use practice results to guide instruction, but cannot guarantee a score or admission outcome. The first-hour satisfaction guarantee applies to the tutor experience, not a particular result.
Can you help us choose a test or register?
We can discuss practice results and the student’s experience when choosing between exams. Registration, accommodations and score reporting go through College Board. Check current requirements for each college; you can also explore ACT tutoring.
